Recently I've discovered my computer likes to do things without me doing anything. As you know that generally makes one suspicious.

Anyway, ads would pop up on my computer, my taskbar would disappear then reappear several seconds later with open files regrouped, and the area where it holds all of the icons of opened programs like volume or AIM {forget the name of this area} would only have a few icons, with everything else disappearing.
My opened files would always disappear for a second as well, as the taskbar did, but they would always pop right back up.
Anyway, I don't remember having any virus scanners installed on my computer as of recently, so I've done several Ad-aware scans.
Three scans and the same thing pops up; 'Virtumonde' with the program catagorizing it as malware. I've removed it all three times, but each new scan would cause this malware to reappear on the list.

I googled it, and found out that this is indeed what is causing the weird happenings. Thing is, the website that I found also says that some types of Virtumonde are capable of resisting removal.

Obviously Ad-aware scanning and removal isn't working, nor is it the proper tool to remove this program...My question; what is?

You know nothing about what amazing software is if you think Norton tops the list.

If you want to manually remove Virtumonde, click here for a full and detailed description.

If you would like it automatically removed for you - it's easier, but less 'sure' - there are tons of software out there that you can use. Spybot S&D, for one - if you want some more, ask me. It's more reassuring to do it manually and it isn't that difficult, though.

Thank you for the help. I think I've removed it but if not, I'll ask you what else to do.
Thanks again.
