I have a friend who's fallen only some really hard times. She's 6 months pregnant and living with her fiancee. She can't work on account of the pregnancy. He is a carpenter/construction worker who works for a well established temp agency. Unfortunately ppl don't like to built things in the snow, so he hasn't been able to get work since a couple weeks before Xmas with one exception. Last week week he got a really good position doing industrial matinance, which he's never done before. The company really needed workers, so under recommendation of his boss, they took him on agreeing to train him. It was a perm position and would've been great for their $$ situation. 5 days later they said, we're sorry, you're a great worker, blah blah blah, but we don't have the resources to train you and let him go. On top of the whole no job thing, they just lost their apt and are technically illegally sub-letting from a friend of theirs b/c they have nowhere else to go. (Her fam is across the state and is hard pressed for $ and his is two states away and not willing to help.) Also, their car just broke down and they don't have the money to pay for it. She is trying to get food stamps and WIC b/c she has no income (he makes no less than $15 dph when he is working) but the people she is subletting from get food stamps and WIC, so she's not eligible by default. Is it justifiable for her to give her old address on the apps and then have it sent to a po box so that her and her fam can eat???? She is desperate and I'm sure any other suggestions are welcome.
