REALLY GOOD WAY TO STOP SELF HARMING:
Keep a rubber band around your wrist, and when you need to you can flick it against your skin. It hurts but doesn't leave scars.
Hold onto ice cubes until they melt.
These are a couple of good ideas my councellor gave me once =D

Its a good article. I wanna stop but its so freaking impossible. Right now im trying the rubber band method but idk if it will work. Bc when I flick the rubber band I see my scars and cuts and it makes me stress out which makes me wanna cut. I can't believe I cut. How have other ppl stopped?

Time is the best healer, yoru personal situation will change you will find other ways to cope. The real thing is less asking how can i stop, and more asking yourself how did i start, what triggers you, why do you need this. Once you know these you can begin to work on finding other and better ways to deal with issues.

I stopped continuiously self harming over 4 years ago, but since then i have still self harmed about 10 times. i know that my self harm will never leave me, I think about it constantly and know i need it there as a backup, but i know how to resist now, how to cope in other ways, how to avoid my triggers. These you will all find when the time is right. Your wanting to stop is the first step and the biggest ones to take.

Hold in there.

I've been self harming for a while now. I want to stop but it's hard. I'm sick of people who don't understand it calling me crazy psycho & other rude things. it's a hard habit to stop. I wish i could i have tried many times.

I do not know if many people do this. I used to cut my gums with small sharp objects (paper clips, thumb tacks, shards of glass) because it was less noticeable. I doubt a lot of people do that but just putting it out there in case.

another sign is not wanting to go swimming- wearing shorts at the swimming pool or beach and being very defensive and secretive when getting changed in front of other people

This guide revolves around helping people to help their friends.

What about the ones who self harm and want to stop but just can't. Like a drug.

It might sound retarded but where's the help for them. If they don't want to tell anybody but they want to stop because they don't want people to find out yet they want to keep doing it because it helps the pain then how do they stop???
