yes well.... atheist all the way. the more religion i studied the more of a non-believer i became. all religions are based on the same concept yet they war with eachother. so i choose to concentrate on more important things. like school and movies.

I am Jewish. I am surprised only 4 Jews responded. I though there were a few more Jews on LW.

I am currently between religions, and considering Conservative Judaism or Theravada Buddhism. Catholicism and Anglicanism appeal to me, because of the ritualization , sacraments, and tradition of them (Anglicanism/Episcopalianism moreso, because they're more open-minded concerning social issues), but I don't really think that Christianity is for me. I'm really not sure, though, as all of the religions that I consider have flaws to them, and things that don't fit me. I have a lifetime to decide, and I'll eventually come upon the right belief system for me.
Why:

Theravada Buddhism: I like the self-centrality of it all, the fact that a legit-sounding meaning of life can be stated, the happiness and peacefulness that accompanies the religion, no bizarre deity beliefs, afterlife beliefs, and meditation. Reasons why I wouldn't join are because of the lack of ritualization (I like rituals, I can't help it icon_razz.gif) and other personal reasons that I can't explain.

Conservative Judaism: I like the warmth of tradition, deity belief, pluralism, generally open-mindedness (although not fully there yet with homosexuality, but still generally accepting of it), and the rituals. Reasons why I wouldn't join are the fact that you have to follow 613 laws (I don't want to be some rinky-dink practitioner of a religion) when Judaism believes salvation is available to all faiths if you're a good person and other personal reasons, some of the things said in the Tanach, and other personal reasons.

Catholicism/Anglicanism: These two are appealing to me, because of the ritualization and a sense of tradition that accompanies the two. I also like the modern social beliefs of Anglicanism. Reasons why I wouldn't join are their Trinitarian beliefs, some of the things in their Bibles, their afterlife beliefs, Catholicism's papal infallibility belief, and Anglicanism exclusivism. I still find the two somewhat appealing, though. icon_confused.gif

Unfortunately, you might be right. Okay, everyone, just try to ignore the word 'final' in my topic title . . .

You can edit it, you know. Costs you a few points, I think, though.

In any event, I'm agnostic.

I'm Christian--Protestant. I've gone to many different denominations of churches during my lifetime, so I guess you could say I'm non-denominational? Or multi-denominational? Currently I go to two churches regularly, a Presbyterian church and a Disciples of Christ church.

As for why I consider myself a Christian, I believe in and love God and Jesus, and believe that you should try to live your life like Jesus did. However, I disagree with some things in the Bible, and I'm pretty openminded to different beliefs and possibilities. I like the churches I go to because they don't try to shove the Bible down my throat, and are pretty accepting of others and their beliefs, and I'm cool with that.
