Well girls I'm 17 weeks and a bit now and am officially showing. People I don't know are asking me when I'm due etc. Bit of an adjustment getting used to a different body type (my mother-in-law said to me the other day, "you're putting on weight quickly, you'd need to watch yourself". Thanks for that!).

Have our first proper scan in mid-September when I'll be 21 weeks and can't wait. Husband is desperate to find out what we are having but I'm making him wait.

I'm still feeling sick quite a bit. I saw my GP a few weeks ago as the constant nausea was making me depressed. She gave me anti-emetics which are helping and my mood has improved. The tablets make you super drowsy though! I'm tired all the time and can sleep for 12 hours per night easily, and still wake up exhausted.

Looking forward to being halfway soon enough. I bought maternity clothes online for work but everything looks so frumpy! I did get an amazing pair of jeans tho - so comfy that I think I'll still wearing them post-baby for binges, eg Christmas Day eating!

23 weeks!!!! Had our big scan last week and it all went well, it was so cool to see a wee baba in there waving at us and opening and closing its mouth and squirming around! I feel (and look) properly pregnant now, and am enjoying the kicks while they're not too strong or painful. We've decided to keep the sex a surprise (well, I decided. My husband is dying to know and I wouldn't let him find out ha), although the suspense is totally killing me!

Why do you keep the sex a surprise? Would it really change anything if you knew it?!
Not trying to critisize, just interested in others' oppinions and approaches...

Because I think it's nice to have a surprise! Most people find out these days and it kind of takes some of the excitement away when everyone already knows the sex and the name - once the baby arrives, all you really have to tell people that they didn't already know is the weight.... Whereas if you don't find out, once the baby arrives everybody is super excited to find out what you've had! That's infinitely more exciting.

I also think it will help me in labour, waiting to find out what we have. And everybody is placing bets on what it will be which is fun too!

I want my husband to tell me what we've had rather than the midwives. I think that will be a special moment.

You do have a point. Are you discussing names already?

How is everything going ??

Hey stranger how are you?!?!

Things are going okay by and large, although I have terrible pelvic pain which makes even the smallest movement really difficult and painful. I'm reducing my days at work this month to 3-4 per week and am wondering if I'll even be able to manage that. It's so frustrating not being able to move! It would be more bearable in a desk job, but I have to move around a lot in mine, with lots of bending/twisting and standing up and down and using stairs.

Other than that, things are good though. I'm 29 weeks now and counting down the days!! We are going for a private 4D ultrasound on Sunday so we can see baba's face for the first time! And my Mammy is throwing me a wee baby shower on Saturday (not as big as the ones you have in anerica, just my aunties and 5 friends and I've asked people not to bring gifts) so I'm really looking forward to that.

I might post a picture of the 4d scan, depending on how good the images are.

Guys there's an actual real human baby inside me!!!

We went for a 4d ultrasound yesterday and it was so special, probably the best 20 minutes of my pregnancy to date. Images were so clear, the baby was yawning and smiling and opening and closing its eyes, and likes to lie with its feet right up on top of its head like a little gymnast! I can't even touch my toes so it definitely doesn't inherit that from Mammy.

Apparently the baby is measuring about a week ahead, but on earlier scans it measured four days behind, so who knows. The earlier scans are meant to be more accurate. Apparently it's about 3lbs now or a little over... so assuming weight gain of half a pound a week from here on, I'm on course for an 8-9lb baby... kinda scary given I'm pretty small myself but sure we will wait and see. Here's hoping I don't go two weeks over!!

I have tried to upload a picture to my image basket but it may take forever and a day for the mods to approve it,but once they do, I'll post it!

Omg that's amazing! So happy for you!! I have a best friend that is 33 weeks along now and she has a similar job and she's is going to stop working soon, she says she can't handle it. You only get 12 weeks leave here. How much do you guys get?? She is going to take her 12 weeks then begin a leave (where she doesn't get paid at all) which brings her to September.
