Try reaching out to business to support your cause.

But honestly, these types of GFMs drive me crazy and I find them super tacky. We all want more money to spend on traveling or moving or just general life updates. Why should anyone giv you their hard earned money to do what you want when they are paying to do what they want? We all have bills, we all work. If you can't afford it then you can't afford it.

Well that's a one way to look at it. They should because they want to and it ain't hurting anyone if the fundraiser is being honest. I don't care if someone starts a GFM just for a trip to a theme park. If people donate that's their business. Life is short, we don't all need to be caught up in a bleak reality at all times. If someone wants to reach out, good. Do your thing and catch a break from your financial circumstances for a moment.

Go on with your tacky self op. Anyway, GFM tend to be successful with compelling stories behind it. I don't know if that will be the case here.

I've never been in a better situation. I've got absolutely nothing tying me down, I'm good mental health wise, and who knows what'll happen in the future? I may have a job I can't leave, I may not be single...

"I've never been in a better situation ..."

How can you be in a better situation, if you don't have the means (funds) to pursue what you want to do.

It's like saying I'm in a better situation to live in the TRUMP Tower, Except for the fact that I don't have the funds to rent an apartment in the Trump Tower.

I'm trying to go and do something good in the world! I'm not trying to fund a trip to Disney, or a tour of Asia, I want to TEACH! Do you know why programs such as the ones I'm trying to get into exist? Because these places need teachers, and there are people like me who just aren't comfortable just picking up and flying to a foreign country without help and support!

Do you speak fluent or semi fluent Thai? Or are you training to be a teacher?

If not, then this is all about you. I've taught abroad, when I was younger. Looking back it was the most despicable sort of moralism, in that it is inherently patronising. Put the shoe on the other foot, would you have respect for an untrained person trying to teach you a language when they can't speak yours?
