I'm interested in starting drawing and/or painting as a hobby I can do either once or twice a week to relax. I don't know how good I want to get at it, but when I'm done making a drawing/painting, I don't want to feel like I did it for nothing. I want to do more than just look at it. I guess selling or donating the drawings/paintings is more reserved for professionals who are really good at it.

Any suggestions?

Not sure if DeviantArt is still relevant, but maybe you can post your finished pieces on there? I'm sure there are other art sites, if that done doesn't appeal to you...

I personally crochet and will post pictures of my finished projects on Instagram/FB. I've managed to sell a couple things in the process, but my main goal in posting pictures is to share with others.

You can always sell on Etsy or eBay. Its not easy to make an income but if you don't mind just selling it for fun then go ahead.

Build a website showing low res copies, and load the low rez up all over the net with your URL watermarked.
On your websites sell high res prints.
You could also teach art classes, make youtube vids advertising your website, publish a book of your art, do artshows and other such things.
