I'm having ankle surgery tomorrow, and I have no idea what I should be bringing to the hospital. Can you help me out?

That is a critical info which the Hospital or the surgeon's assistants should have discussed with you a few days before the date of surgery. Also, you could have called the surgeon's office to find out.

You don't need clothes. You'll be in a gown until you're discharged. Your family can bring you a change of clothes when you're ready for discharge. Honestly.your best bet is not to bring anything. I worked at a hospotal, there is a high chance of it getting misplaced if you bring stuff into surgery. Just have someone bring you entertainment (phone, gameboy, book, etc) after you wake up in recovery. They will give you a toothbrush and paste.

You need clothes to wear there!! Unless you plan on heading in naked..........

I brought a backpack with just essentials in it -- kindle, book and charger. And of course my phone which kept me company during testing. My dad held my stuff that wasn't my clothing , which they have you put in bags, mark and keep in recovery waiting for you.

This was an outpatient procedure, so it's a little different than what you're describing.
