Contests promote creativity, artistry, and imagination among LiveWire's members. The incentive to participate in contests is the possibility of winning reward points and recognition. It is our goal to invite everyone to participate and to share with the community their photography, web design, painting, drawing, writing, poetry, or whatever the contest asks of them.

To enter First define the word in the livewire dictionary. Then enter it on the contest topic. Be sure to include in your post which category the word is for. (although most of the time this will be obvious) Category 1: Teh Internet In this new technological age, acronyms rule the world. Define an acronym or Internet word that has not yet been defined, or provide a valid alternate definition. (i.e. if someone defined QFT as Quite Fairy Turtles, and that is clearly not the definition we all operate under you are allowed to redefine it) Category 2: Teh livewire Define an active member of livewire. You cannot define a member with a closed or banned account name. You can define a member that has already been defined. Be creative, be funny, and be sure to follow livewire guidelines. Category 3: Teh Webster Define a word, any word. The trick here is to make your definition both accurate and creative. Copying and pasting from Webster's is boring, lets make our dictionary fun! Post an original picture that you took that exhibits some sort of "English Fail." 1) You must have taken the picture yourself. 2) The picture may be edited, but the actual "fail" part may not be edited. That is, you may not rearrange letters, punctuation, etc., to make "non-fail" English into "fail" English. 3) The picture you submit may not be posted on any other website. Not only must your picture be original, it must not have been previously posted on English Fail, Engrish, or any other website. 4) You may enter as may times as you would like, but you may only win once. 5) Judging method is to be determined. 6) The contest deadline is to be determined. Any entries posted after the deadline (or posts edited after the deadline) will not be considered. 7) The winner(s) will receive points, amounts of which are to be determined. 8) All entries must be posted in this topic. If you enter more than once, please post all entries in the same post. If you enter once and decide to submit another entry, you must edit your original post to include the new entries. 9) Judges may not enter the contest. They may post examples of entries, but these examples will not be considered. Read the contest topic to learn how to enter.

The LiveWire Writing contest will start off in this thread. You will post your piece of work with the necessary information (I'll describe that in a little bit). The posting will go on until August 1st, 2008. You've got a lot of time, a little over a month, so perfect your work! Make it amazing before you press submit. Then, four judges and I will each pick two favorites of ours (the judges will message me their favorites). These favorites will be forwarded into a new page. They will each be posted again in the topic, and there will be a vote. It won't be a pole, since those are pretty easy to cheat. We'll pick the top 3 from the vote. A final voting topic will be posted with those 3 pieces. They will be voted on, and sorted into first, second, and third places. Points will be awarded to all finalists, and the first place winner's piece will be reposted in all of its glory. Read the contest topic to learn how to enter.

Give Points to Contest
As your contest manager, in an effort to increase the number of active contests on the forums, I am giving away a significant amount of money and points to the best contest ideas to be implemented in the next few weeks. How this will work: 1. YOU will post your contest ideas in a reply in this topic. Be as detailed as possible, colorful, creative, imaginative, picture-inclusive. An entry that stands out is more likely to be noticed and selected by my judging panel. 2. The JUDGES and myself will vote on and select TEN ideas from this topic. 3. The ten ideas will be entered into a POLL, in which all of LW will be able to vote for the next FOUR or FIVE (depending on the quality) contests which will actually take place as soon as they are selected with the highest votes in the poll. The creators of the winning ideas will receive: The first place winner: A $12 donation OR 1000 points The second and third place winner: A $6 donation OR 700 points. The fourth and fifth (if there is a fifth) place winner: 500 points. Note: The Prize Pot is likely to increase as people donate more points to this contest on this page.
